Do It With Passion

In order for a community to Do It With Passion, they must...

  • Have a voice/choice in how & what is to be done
  • Feel engaged with the work they are to do
  • See a connection to the path forward
  • Develop a clear path to a set of goals
  • Identify a mentor with whom to discuss ideas and concerns and receive meaningful feedback.
  • Look for and provide opportunities along the way
  • Feel a sense of accomplishment when done

"My parents gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, they believed in me"

Jim Valvano

"Teachers who love teaching,

teach children who love learning"

Robert Meehan

"There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about"

Margaret Wheatley

Learning is possible without passion. But, really, that’s like having a theme park without rides. The intense excitement, the fun exploration, the natural curiosity? Passion brings those things to the table. The teacher’s passion becomes the catalyst for igniting fires in the learning. The student’s passion fans the flames.

Learning can be simple. Straightforward. Easy. Learning can also be boring.

But it doesn’t have to be. Learning can also be miraculous, explosive, fantastic, awe-inspiring, and amazing. It can be a hard journey with an ending that opens your eyes to new ideas. Learning can light up your mind with a million wonders and connect your thoughts with little bridges.

Not everyone is passionate about everything. But, everyone is passionate about something. When we value a student’s passion, we value who they are. That’s when learning truly comes alive, for us all.
