How to Reach Me: joe_jourdain@wrsd.net

Extra Help: Every Monday and Tuesday, and most other days work for me if prior arrangements are made.

Course Materials: To make things easier for both parents and students alike, all course materials will be placed into Google Classroom. That makes for an easy one stop location for syllabi, assignments, notes and review materials. After your students register for Google Classroom, I will send out a blanket email to parents, inviting them to join our class. Parents can then determine the frequency of their notifications. The online planbook which outlines the evening's homework assignment can always be viewed on this page.

Approach to Teaching: I come to teaching with energy and enthusiasm, and really love my work. History and Civics are essential to creating engaged, active citizens. My hope is to develop critical thinking skills, research skills, and communication skills. These skills will be called upon when students attend post-secondary education. I use different modalities of instruction to work to the diverse strengths of my students. Students will learn the how our nation's past and system government shapes their present and future. I look forward to working with both students and parents alike, so please reach out with any questions or concerns you might have.

About Me: This fall marks my 24th year of teaching, with nearly all of those years at Wachusett. I live in Jefferson, and feel pretty lucky to be a part of our five extraordinary towns. I grew up in Holyoke, and attended UMass-Amherst for both undergrad and graduate school. I am married, with two high school aged boys and two cats. Apart from history and current events, I enjoy cycling and travel.
