As Christmas approaches, Wright City FBLA—along with several other school clubs—works to bring holiday joy to local parents and children through the Adopt A Family fundraiser. The program helps provide families with basic necessities and gifts, easing some of the stress that often comes with the holiday season.
FBLA members collaborate to “adopt” families by collecting, purchasing, and organizing donations that match their wish lists. These lists often include toys, clothing, shoes, and other essential items. These contributions can make a meaningful difference in a child’s holiday experience.
Wright City FBLA member Haley Elsenrath said, “It feels great to be able to help out families in need for the holidays and make it more enjoyable for everyone.”
Last year, the Adopt A Family effort supported several local families, and this year FBLA hopes to continue working with other clubs to expand that impact. Students sign up to purchase specific items requested by children or parents, then shop for the gifts themselves. This process allows families to enjoy the Christmas they hope for while giving club members a chance to serve their community.
For many families, the support goes beyond receiving presents. The holidays can be financially challenging, and assistance from organizations like FBLA helps ease pressure on parents doing their best to provide a joyful season for their children.
In addition to offering gifts, the Adopt A Family fundraiser teaches students the value of giving back and supporting those in need. Through this effort, Wright City was able to give two families a joyful, worry-free Christmas.
