The coach spotlight for October goes to Coach Klekamp, who has gone above and beyond in his role as defensive coordinator for the Wright City High School varsity football team. In addition to coaching, he supports students during the school day as an in-school suspension (ISS) teacher.
When asked about his motivation to coach, Klekamp said, “I grew up in Montgomery County playing football during the late ’80s and early ’90s. The football tradition was really awesome at that point in time; the town would shut down on Friday nights, there would be signs all over town, and everyone showed up for Friday night football under the lights. It was always something that I was so excited to be a part of as a player. This started my passion for the game.”
“The decision to coach, though, was developed through the impact of so many coaches that I have had in my life, starting with my father. Through my 27 years of coaching football, it has been all the awesome opportunities to coach so many great student-athletes and work with so many great coaches.”
Klekamp also shared his passion for the game and his team:
“My favorite part of coaching will always be the relationships that are built with players and watching them grow beyond high school football into great men.”
Coach Klekamp expressed his excitement and focus for the upcoming conference games.
“I am extremely excited for this group to have this opportunity to continue to be successful this season, as we have had a good start to the 2025 season. Our focus will be on continuing to get better every day and work hard to prepare for each game one at a time. This will be our toughest stretch of the season, as we face three teams that have all had success in our conference.”
Wright City is proud to welcome Coach Klekamp to the Wildcat family and looks forward to the positive influence he will continue to have on athletes, students and fellow staff members.
