Members of the Wright City Key Club had their first official meeting on August 29th.
These members discussed their mission of aiming to continue their efforts head-on. Key Club is an international service organization for high school students that helps participants with service projects, builds leadership skills, and develops character by helping serve their school and the community.
Matthew Johnston, Key Club President, has high expectations for the upcoming year. “As of right now, Key Club is currently working on gaining a strong foundation of student leaders who want to help the community out to the best of their ability,” says Johnston.
An upcoming event is a collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of Wright City titled “Wright City Kiwanis Amazing Rubber Duck Derby.” This derby consists of rubber ducks racing through a man-made course in downtown Wright City on Sept. 5 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Every duck costs $10, and you’re able to adopt a duck at every First Friday event. The first-place prize for the derby is $1,500, and you do not have to be present to win the prize. All of these proceeds will be contributing to the Kiwanis Sports Club and to any other local children’s organizations.
