West Teacher of the Year Nominees
“Student’s were running up and congratulating me!” Wright City West Elementary teacher, Madison Mielke exclaims when she found out she was nominated for the Teacher of the Year award. She teaches fifth grade and it is only in her third year of teaching. “I am still learning every day from other teachers and kids. This award would give me the confidence to continue doing what I am doing.” Mielke is one of eight nominees for this esteemed award.
Another honored nominee is Megan Thomason, a co-worker of Mielke’s. She is an English Language Learners (ELL) Specialist. Although fairly new to the district, she is making her mark. “I was excited and honored to be nominated.” Said Thomason. “Winning would be continued motivation to keep showing up for my kids.” The remaining nominees include: Mindy Heuser (Reading interventionist), Lynette Randolph (Fourth Grade Teacher), Alex Kohlfeld (Fourth Grade Teacher), Laraya Windsor (Third Grade Teacher), Gabby Coulthard (Fifth Grade Teacher), Bria Prince (Special Education), and Shannon Brunnert (Fourth Grade Teacher).
If a nominee wins this award, they will be gifted a plaque and immense recognition. This is a vast honor and would mean so much to any one of the recipients.
