East Teacher of the Year
Each year the Wright City School District nominates staff members for the Teacher of the Year award. This year at East Elementary, many teachers were honored to be nominated. First grade teacher, Kenya Crawford shares her excitement. “To win this award, it would boost my confidence with teaching and giving my best can make the biggest impact in my student’s lives.” Crawford is one of four nominees. Stephanie Baker, Kindergarten teacher, also exhibits her passion for teaching. “Winning would be an honor. No matter the outcome, I will remain dedicated to my students and determined to be the best educator possible.” The remaining nominees include: Caitlin Bedell (First Grade Teacher), and Shelby Huntebrinker (Kindergarten Teacher).
East Support Staff of the Year
Just as teachers receive Teacher of the Year nominations, support staff does as well. One of the seven nominees, Stacey Zeilman, excitedly accepted the nomination. “I was surprised and excited when I found out that I was nominated!” The English Language Learners (ELL) Paraprofessional also gave an insight on her competition. “The other nominees are exceptional employees and I have tough competition.” A Paraprofessional just as Zeilman, Susan Dunakey, shares her input on being nominated. “Winning this award would mean a lot. It is a great feeling to know what you do is valued and appreciated.” A fellow nominee of Dunakey’s, Jeff Adkins (Custodial Maintenance), exclaims, “It always feels good to be nominated for support staff by my co-workers. This will be a great memory to look back on in later years.” The remaining nominees include: Anne Juden (Secretary), Katie Keeler (Paraprofessional), Donna Conley (Food Service Cashier), and Jen Rice (Paraprofessional).
Good luck to all nominees, results will be announced Feb 15. Stay tuned for the March Edition of the WC Connection to find out the winners.
