Flexible, Efficient Solar Panels with Nanotech
Using Silicon Nano-Structures to Create Better Solar Panels
Creating a sustainable, viable, and economical future with flexible solar panels that can generate hundreds of times more energy per square foot than than standard solar cells.
THE PROBLEM
Current Methods of Generating Energy Simply Aren't Good EnoughInefficiency
Standard Solar Panels today only absorb 20% of the light that is hitting them. Other methods of clean energy are inefficient in terms of space used or energy created.
High Cost
The ratio of energy produced to cost of most methods is far too low. This leads large companies to resort to cheaper, but more harmful methods like burning fossil fuels.
Harmful Byproducts
Fossil fuels produce about 80% of the world's energy. However, this produces harmful fossil fuels, which leads to climate change and can have negative impacts on ecosystems.
Our Solution
We create flexible, low cost solar panels that will revolutionize energy production.
Instead of creating photovoltaic cells the traditional way, we use silicon nano-structures to increase the efficiency of our solar panels, at a cheaper cost. The nano-structures allow for up to 90% of the possible light energy to be absorbed because the photons will be trapped and limited to bounce around within the nano-protrusions. This remarkably better than the mere 20% absorbed by current solar panels.
The Power of SolarSkin
Highly Efficient
Absorbs over 400% more energy than standard Solar Panels. It can absorb up to 95% of the possible light converted, so less space is needed for the same energy.
Low Cost, More Energy
SolarSkin uses silicon nanostructures, which are cheap to source and manufacture. This results in an increased ratio of cost vs. energy output
Flexible and Durable
The narrow semiconductor layers and thin-film technology allow for SolarSkin panels to be flexible and can be placed on smooth or irregular surfaces
Small Environmental Impact
SolarSkin can be manufactured and used with almost no greenhouse gases or harmful waste products produced.
