IAP

The Integrated Arts Program is a Waterloo Region District School Board Magnet Program. It offers challenging enhanced arts programming for students interested in the performing, visual, production and media arts. Students choose to come to  the Eastwood IAP for many different reasons: Some want to pursue post-secondary studies or a career in the arts, and others want to enhance their high school experience through the arts while pursuing other career and post-secondary goals. The IAP offers opportunities to explore, experience, or study aspects of arts careers through extra curricular activities, professional mentorship, and field trip.

MLL Program 

The MLL (ESL and ELD) magnet program is designed to help English Language Learners develop the skills they need to develop proficiency in everyday English and, most especially, the proficiency in academic English that will allow them to integrate successfully into the mainstream school program. 

STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO APPLY TO EASTWOOD FOR THE MLL PROGRAM.  If you need English Language support, and you live in our boundary, then we are your school!

Our magnet program offers learners a package of courses customized to their language level. Students can earn credits in a variety of language-supportive courses. These include English,Science, Math, Family Studies, Geography,Science, History, Civics, Careers, Art and Drama.

Transportation

The SHSM–Transportation provides students with a strong foundation for a wide variety of careers in the transportation sector, from those focusing on the service, repair, and modification of vehicles and vehicle systems to those related to the organization and management of transportation services and mass-transit systems. The SHSM–Transportation enables students to build a foundation of sector-focused knowledge and skills before graduating and entering apprenticeship training, college, university, or an entry-level position in the workplace.



Arts & Culture

The SHSM is a testament to the quality of eduction already taking place at Eastwood, as well as to the vibrant world-class arts and cultural scene in our community. At Eastwood we are proud to be able to offer students the option to completely customize their arts education. Building off of the tradition of the Integrated Arts Program established in 1987, with the addition of the Specialist High Skills Major: Arts & Culture in 2007, Eastwood arts has now expanded to offer two distinct, yet mutually beneficial areas of arts specialty.The SHSM emphasizes hands on, practical learning experiences with a focus on the arts in the digital age. Any student currently attending ECI can apply to be part of the SHSM. 

Non-Profit

The SHSM–Non-profit enables students to build a foundation of sector-focused knowledge and skills before graduating and entering apprenticeship training, college, university, or a position in the workplace. Students will develop skills in the areas of problem solving, analysis, communication, cooperation, ethical values, consciousness, and citizenship. This SHSM may be designed to have a particular focus – for example, on international development or community action. This focus is achieved through the selection of the four major credits in the bundle.


Sports

The SHSM–Sports enables students to build a foundation of sector-focused knowledge and skills before graduating and entering apprenticeship training, college, university, or an entry-level position in the workplace. Where local circumstances allow, boards may elect to offer one or more variants of the SHSM in a given sector, each with a particular area of focus. This SHSM may be designed to have a particular focus – for example, on competitive and recreational sports, sports management, or sports media and broadcasting. This focus is achieved through the selection of the four major credits in the bundle.
