KCI Raiders’ Senior Boys Basketball team kicks off their first home game of the season going head to head against Huron Heights’ Huskies. In this adrenaline-filled game, one team came out victorious and the other did not.
In the first period, Huron Heights got a hold of the ball which was quickly stolen by KCI player Dane Djordjic (#7), who attempted to shoot but fell short. Huron Heights player, Merrik Harrington (#20) scored the first two-pointer of the same, setting the tone and the tension in the gymnasium. Unfortunately, shortly after scoring, Harrington (#20) proceeded to get the first foul of the game. Dane Djordjic (#7) scored the first two-pointer for KCI, earning a rowdy chain of applause from the crowd. Both teams continued to fight back and forth for the ball, the whistling of their shoes echoed in the gymnasium, but soon enough Huron player Sam Rosse (#1) shot a three-pointer and scores, followed by another score from Huron player Tierman O’Connor (#22). KCI player Dane Djordjic (#7) scored another two-pointer, but quickly received an offensive foul. Quickly, Huron player Manjot Badesha (#35) scored the next two-pointer, followed by chain of layups from Huron player Tierman O’Conner (#22). As the buzzer rang to signal the end of the first period, the score on the period was almost humbling; 17 - 4 for Huron Heights.
KCI started with the ball in the second period and Dante Edwards (#2) immediately scored a three-pointer, filling the gym with hope for a KCI comeback. Seeming to be in a good flow, Huron player Sam Rosse (#1) mimics Edwards (#2) by also scoring a three-pointer which was followed by another basket from Huron player Tierman O’Connor (#22). KCI received the next foul from Dante Edwards (#2), and resulted in an extra two point for Huron from Manjot Badesha (#35). With fouls being thrown around and Huron and KCI battling for the ball and scoring many baskets, Huron still ended the period on top with the scoreboard showing 20 - 38 for Huron Heights.
In the third period the tension and pressure was high for KCI to catch. Time was running out and they were nowhere close to catching up. Immediately, Huron player Sam Rosse (#1) began the period with a three pointer, earning a chain of cheers from the stadium. Tierman O’Connor (#22) followed with another score for Huron, doubling the KCI’s score. But quickly enough, Dane Djordjic (#7) scored a beautiful two-pointer for KCI. Both Huron and KCI zoomed from one end of the gym to the other, scoring and making mistakes along the way, with Dane Djordjic (#7) scoring three more baskets, Nathan Bell (#8) scoring two and Gurtej Singh (#11) scoring one. But in contrary, Tierman O’Connor (#22) scored two baskets, an Zakai Davis (#11) scored two as well for Huron, bringing the score to 36 - 57 for Huron Heights.
In the last period, the pressure has never been this high. Unfortunately for us, Huron scored right away with a two pointer from Tierman O’Conner (#22), followed by a basket from Nathan Bell (#8) for KCI. Huron player Keerat Dhjanjal (#2) scored a beautiful three-pointer followed by two back to back baskets from Dane Djordjic (#7) for KCI. Unfortunately, the odds were not on KCI’s side. As the clock quickly ran out time and the score still maintained a big gap, KCI lost 47 - 71 against Huron Heights.
