ROAM (Raiders On A Mission) is KCI’s non-denominational Christian club. It is a great club for students to embrace their faith and be with others who want to talk and learn more about Christianity.
Mr. Biffis, a guidance counsellor at KCI, created the club in 2010 with some of his Careers students. His “favourite part of ROAM is seeing students get excited about how their faith can be a part of their school experience, and how encouraging they are to each other.” He enjoys working with students to find ways for ROAM to make a difference in our school community. Mr. Biffis created the club to “provide a space where students are welcomed, encouraged and reminded that God has a purpose for their life and that he is present with them throughout their time at KCI." He expressed that ROAM is always happy to welcome new members.
From a student perspective, a grade eleven student, Karen Tang “(has) been involved with ROAM for 2 years, since grade nine.” Her favourite parts of the club are the fun activities, such as trivia, minute-to-win-its, and the end of year potluck. She also enjoys the bible studies and group prayers. Karen described ROAM as a club “welcome to those who are new to faith or are just curious. way, it's a club filled with the most friendly people I ever met!”
As a new member, Kailey Falkenburger has “been going to ROAM since September of this year.” She likes the video lessons and participating in different activities that help her grow in her faith. Kailey loves that ROAM is “a club where people of all denominations can come and freely talk, have fun, and learn about God.”
Ultimately, ROAM is a club for anyone looking to dive deeper into their faith while surrounded by a welcoming and supportive group of staff and students. Anyone is encouraged to join regardless of where they are at in their faith journey.
