2 credits of Co-op is a requirement for all SHSM participants.
Co-op can be done in Grade 11 or 12.
You can earn 2, 3 or even 4 credits of co-op in a semester.

Role of the Co-op Student:
Complete all pre-placement tasks and health & safety trainings.
Attend your placement each day with the purpose of being a valued addition to the business.
Accurately record all hours and tasks in your tracking form as well as complete weekly reflections.
Attend Bluevale Integration Days and complete assigned Co-op Summative Portfolio.
The goal of Bluevale's Co-op program is to provide experiential learning opportunities for ALL students so that they can discover a path for their future!
The success of a strong co-op program depends on the support of community partners.
Helpful Information:
The placement is UNPAID as the student is earning high school credits.
The semester is approximately 5 months.
Students are expected to work:
2 credit co-op = approx 12.5 hours/week
4 credit co-op = approx 25 hours/week
The student is insured through WSIB.
Role of the Co-op Employer:
Provide a positive and safe learning experience for the student.
Create opportunities for the student to explore skills and tasks related to the workplace.
Complete two performance evaluations of your co-op student.
Meet with the Co-op teacher and student on a least two occasions.
