How And When You Can Get The Chance To Be Onstage
Every year the Winchester Cooperative Theatre does a musical based on a book or movie or previous performance. And this year, they’ve done it again! If you want to have a speaking or singing role, you have to audition. This year’s show is called “Willy Wonka”, and this article shows you all the details there are and how you can manage to get onstage. Let’s start with…
When And Where
The auditions for the play will take place at McCall Middle School auditorium on December 15 and 16. If you don’t know where that is, it’s very close to the first floor entrance of the building. It will start at 3:30 and end at 5:30 P.M. You will need to practice the first verse of My Country Tis Of Thee and any monologue that’s less than a minute. It’s open to 6th and 7th graders there only. You only need to attend one of the two days. On Friday December 19, notification of acceptance will be sent to your parents/guardians. That’s all you need to know!
There are many things you should know to prepare for your auditions if you’re going. If not, then you can skip this part and go to the end. But for all the people going, this article’s got a lot of tips you should know. Let’s start with…
Number One: Getting There On Time
If you’re wanting to get there early, you should do this if you have any after-school activities. As soon as you can, find your club advisor and inform them that you can’t be attending your activity because of your auditions. After you’re done with that, wait until the seventh period bell rings and when it does, head down to the auditorium.
Number Two: Chatting With Your Competition
Another tip you should know is to learn your competition. If you're going for a popular role like Charlie, you'll have a lot of people going for the same character. But be sure first. Ask people what they want to be, and if they say your part, then you'll have to make your performance better so that you'll get what you want.
Number Three: How To Be A Good Tryer In Front Of The Judges
This is probably the most important tip you’ll need to know. It’s really all just a bunch of steps. First, when they call your name, you should walk up to them and stand in front of them. Try not to act nervous and smile the best you can. Then, you say the part you want in the play, and sing your song(mentioned in the “When And Where” section)and your monologue. Once you’re done, you say, “Thank you!” to the judges, and walk off the stage.
Conclusion
That’s everything you need to know about these auditions! I hope this has helped you prepare for it. See ya!
