Introduction
This Valentines day, Singing Valentines occurred. Aside from being well performed and exciting, all of the groups had very interesting costumes. The event was overflowing with fun fashion! From makeup to general attire, we will take you through this wonderful event's highlights and trends. Now, let's take a look.
Hair
First of all, when it came to hair in the performances, things seemed to be more about the accessories than the style. Many people tied little braids with pink or red ribbon. One girl even wove her ribbons into her braids. Some people pushed back their hair with heart sunglasses to keep it out of their face. Hair extensions were common; they all seemed to be Valentine's Day themed. One trio of girls did matching french braids, which was nice. In general, everything was really cute and festive!
Makeup
When it came to makeup, most went heavy on the blush. It made the dancers look like they were bashful or nervous, which I liked, since they were singing love songs. Many students painted adorable little hearts on their faces! Stick on gems were not very popular, but still worn by a few performers, and they added a nice sparkly effect. Many girls wore pink eyeshadow, too. Lastly, it should be noted that not everyone wore makeup. Some decided to go for a more simple look, and I respect that. It helped focus the number more on the actual performing.
Other Forms of Accessories
Little jewelry was worn during the shows; I found that surprising. There was a girl who had what appeared to be a light-up ring on her thumb, though. One group wore amusing pink studded fedoras. Many folks wore heart-shaped sunglassed on their noses. Some even decorated them with wonderful little gems and stickers!
Tops
Most popular for tops were pink crop-tops. These crop-tops were post short-sleeved, but there was also a great deal of tank ones. Tee-shirts were not very prominent, but when they were worn, they were always pink. One girl wore a black, long sleeved sweater. That was the only other color that appeared as a top through out the day, except for one purple crop top. A pale pink sweater was also sighted.
Pants and Skirts
Almost every participant wore lululemon leggings this year. Some of these leggings were bell-bottoms, but most were not. Other athlelic brand leggings were seen, but there were less. Some 8th graders wore blue jeans, too. Occasionally, sweatpants were worn. Some red and black or pink and white plaid pants appeared. Last of all, one group put on small pink tutus with their leggings. These skirts were funny, sweet, and playful.
Shoes
Shoes did not seem to be apart of anyone's costumes this year. Uggs and Converse were worn frequently, probably since that is what the majority 8th graders at our school wear most of the time.
In - Betweens
Other than what I have mentioned. one group's costumes really stood out in a way far different from the others. A quartet of 8th graders performed the whole event in Stitch onesies! Two students wore traditional blue ones, and two others wore pink.
Conclusion
Overall, the outfits this year were great. Everything was full of spirit, totally cute, and just wonderful! Most prominent were the pink crop tops, heart sunglasses, and black leggings. It was very impressive how so many dancers managed to wear practically perfect matching outfits. I am sure we all cannot wait for next year too see what folks wear next year!
