As seen in a recent poll conducted among students in 8th grade across all 4 teams, over 80 percent of the students showed dissatisfaction with the quality of the school lunches. I have heard from friends stories that old food, sour milk, and moldy salads have been reported, raising serious health concerns among the students and their families. Some students have even reported things like bugs appearing in their school lunches.
Children and teenagers require proper nutrition to stay focused on the work presented to them. Our goal for this project is to have the topic of school lunches brought up at a town meeting or school committee meeting, to spread awareness for this issue, and to change the quality of food in our school.
To achieve our objectives, me and my group are calling for participation and feedback from both students and the wider community. We are encouraging students and town residents to fill out a survey conducted by the Whitsons program, the lunch provider for McCall Middle School.
Together, we can make a change for not only us but future students of McCall Middle School. We hope that you will help us reach our goal of spreading awareness to increase our lunch quality to help kids stay focused and full for the rest of the school day.
