Pop star Charli xcx just released a new album, titled BRAT. This unique pop star has been releasing music for a long time, ever since she was a teen. In 2022, she launched the album CRASH. It was her most successful album ever. Yet, that title may shift to her most recent one soon.
Two years later, BRAT has come out. At this point, Charli has risen to a fantastic level of fame, even co-writing the song Speed Drive for the Barbie movie! The new album features many popular singles, including 360 and Club Classics. Additionally, Pitchfork gave it an 8.5 out of 10 in their review! That is an incredible score for Pitchfork, since they are generally fairly critical. Also, Pitchfork awarded BRAT with the title of Best New Music, and Von Dutch (one of the album's songs) with the title of Best New Single.
Billboard also gave it a positive review, saying, "The veteran star's new album looks past recent trends in pop for something more sonically and thematically rewarding." Kyle Dennis, the author for that article, pointed out how sincere BRAT is compared to so much of the music that is being release. They are right, truly. Even depressing albums like TTPD always add some type of storytelling element to them, but BRAT feels so honest. However, it is still really fun.
Youtubers are loving the album, too. Many people are titling their videos with names like, "Is brat Charli's best album yet?" Additionally, many people have made multiple positive review videos, one for each version of the album. That's right: On Monday, Charli xcx released the album, Brat and it's the same but there's three more songs so its not. The comedic title might not be catchy, but it is funny and clear.
Everywhere else, periodicals and reddit pages alike are praising this album for its sincerity and momentum. The three extra songs have helped this flow of positive content, too! It definitely seems like BRAT is going to be Charli xcx's most successful album yet.
