Crack! I look up and I see the lightning's faint yellow glow. I shiver and dive deeper in my bed. Ding Ding! My phone rings and I grab it from my bed stand. I pick up the call from my best friend, April. "Hi April," I say, putting my phone near my ear.
"Oh my gosh, guess what I heard, Summer!" My best friend says excitedly.
"What?" I ask curiously.
"Because your parents are out of town we need to have a party at your place," April declares.
"What, No!!" I cry.
"Don't be a baby," April snaps. "Plus you have all of the stuff we need. Don't forget: you have rich parents, too." I didn't want to be called a coward, so I reluctantly agreed.
. . .
I see April's car pull up on the driveway, and she steps into my house. "Since when did you learn how to drive?" I mumble unhappily. April glares at me. "You don't have to mock me for not having a personal driver," April snapped. "You know it's my brother who drives me; you also know none of us can drive"
"Don't make me kick you out of my party," I say. If I was dragged into this, I might as well make the best out of it, I think.
April pushes me aside and storms in the house. "Who did you invite anyways?" I demand.
"Just a few of the rich kids," April says plopping down on my couch. I remember how April had always wanted to be friends with the popular rich kids, and I roll my eyes. The front door opens, and I see the other girls join us in the living room.
"So what are we doing?" Brianna, the head of the popular girls, asks.
"Ask April," I say.
"Uhhhhhhh I have no idea," April says.
"Let's just see what Summer has," says Scarlet Brianna's best friend.
Soon I fall asleep and I wake up to bright morning sunlight. I turn around and I see April asleep next to me; all of the other girls have left. Suddenly, I gasp. The house is a mess, there are ripped curtains, broken vases, dirty dishes, dust everywhere, and crumbs all over too. When my eyes see the broken T.V. I gasp in surprise. April suddenly wakes up. "What happened," April asks, yawning.
"Look what you've done," I snap, glaring at her. "Oh my god I totally forgot they did that," April says apologetically.
"You let them ruin my mansion," I growl, stomping my feet in fury. I notice April stepping closer and closer to the door. I grab her hand and yank her back into the room,
"Where do you think you are going?" I snarl. "If anyone's going to help me clean it's you!"
April groans. "No, I'm not going to get this dress dirty! I finally found this expensive dress on sale," April protests.
"I'll let you borrow something of mine," I say, dragging her up the dirty stairs. I sigh in relief as I open my room door and I notice that my room is still normal. I hand April a light blue top with fake jewels embroidered on it. I hand her a pair of ripped jeans, and I lend April a pair of sneakers.
"Oh my gosh, these are beautiful," April exclaims as she takes them from me.
"Just go get changed," I say. When she leaves I change into a silky purple shirt and I put on a Black jacket. I grab a pair of jeans, and I also grab some sneakers. April comes out, and says "Do you have a brush?"
"Yes I do," I say, handing her a brush and grabbing one for myself. While April brushes her brown hair I start cleaning upstairs.
By the time April's done, I'm done cleaning the upstairs rooms. It was quite easy because almost none of the rooms were messed up. After we clean most of the house April and I go shopping for a new T.V. We pick one out and I carefully install it. "I'm sorry Summer," April says quietly.
"It's fine," I reply.
"I just wanted to be a popular rich kid like you," April says sadly. I give my friend a hug and I shrug it off.
Suddenly the door opens and I see my mother and father. My father is wearing a black tuxedo and holding his briefcase; my mother is wearing one of her fur jackets and she has a red silk dress on. "I see you had a friend over," my mother says disapprovingly.
"Sorry, I got bored," I said nervously. My mother heads upstairs with my father and I sigh in relief because they didn't notice the new T.V. "Bye April," I say, waving goodbye to my friend.
"Bye Summer," April says waving goodbye to me.
