CHAPTER 1
You may know the story, The Black Cat? Well, if not, you are in for a treat, well if you aren’t me, that is. Walking home alone is as scary as you think it is. Especially if it’s a cold, dark, rainy night and a cat is out to kill you, all the normal stuff.
I rip open my backpack “Please, I must have an umbrella somewhere” I say in a panic. I continue searching to no avail. I eventually give up and start to make my way home, the rain drenching me and my clothes every step I take, the loud thunder cracking above me. I look down at my illuminating phone.
“When will you be home?” my phone dings; a text from my mom.
I roll my eyes and continue home as the rain hits the ground at a rapid pace. The closer I get to my house the more the chilly night air fills my body. *swish*
“w-what was that?" I said, trembling now more than before. “Is anyone there?” After a few seconds, which feels like the longest moments of my life, I see a small black kitten approaching me. It doesn't seem to have its mother with it, nor any siblings. I sigh and attempt to relax my tense body.
“Snap out of it” I mumble to myself softly. Shifting my focus back to the road that I was currently crossing, when my heart dropped. There was a car. coming straight at me. Not stoppin-
Blackness was all I saw, no pain, just blackness. Suddenly I could barely see, the rain drizzling alongst my skin.
“Am I dead?” I ask myself. Honestly, It wouldn't be too bad really, I have been waiting for this moment for the past 15 years. My mom thought I was a wastrel and my dad was dead. After a few minutes I come up with the conclusion that I wasn’t dead since I could feel the rain trickling down my cold, bare skin. I sat up confused and looked down at my phone- no texts? Suddenly as if on cue my phone dinged with a message- from my mom. Premonition filled my vanes like a rush of cold air, but I tried to stay calm, I opened the message that read;
“When will you be home?”
What- I already got this message, I think to myself. I check the clock only to see I have gone back in time. I quickly scavenge my brain and thoughts, to think of anything that happened in the last hour that could relate to what had just happened. When I suddenly remembered the cat. I quickly turn around to see that the cat has disappeared and is nowhere to be seen, but this is the exact same time I had seen it before. At a loss, I got to my feet and continued my voyage home- carefully crossing the road this time.
CHAPTER 2
I sit at the dinner table slurping up my moms horrendous mushroom soup, trying not to gag. I attempt to push what had happened out of my mind. My mom finishes her bowl quickly before grabbing mine. I give it to her willingly - it's not like I want that awful stuff anyway. Afterwards, I made my way up to the second floor of the house, luckily my father had left us an incredible inheritance. Every Friday I like to walk up to the high balcony overlooking the first floor, to “talk to him”. I never really believed it deep down but it made me remember him so I do it. Today I'm telling him about my day, mainly how horrible it was. Suddenly I hear something behind me. I turn around to see my mom standing there, cackling like a witch.
“You're still talking to your dad? Ha, what a child!”
I ignore her and look over the balcony again- this time seeing something I missed, a cat. The same tiny cat that I had seen earlier. My eyesight isn’t the best but I try to grasp every detail of the cat I could get. One thing that stuck out to me is its glowing blue eyes staring back at mine, and a little gold collar wrapped around its neck. Suddenly, I felt something grab me by the waist, and lift me up from the ground. I start yelling for my mom, trying to wiggle out of the abductor's tight grasp. The person slowly hangs me over the balcony, my heart beating at a rapid pace as I plea for mercy.
“Please!” I squeal as I kick my feet at a fast pace, still unable to see the person's face.
“Oops.” said the person and I suddenly could no longer feel the tight grip around my waist. I'm falling, and fast. But somehow, someway. I am able to look up in time to a face I will never forget- my mother.
