Busy schedules can make it hard to find time to study. Then, when you do, it's often difficult to know how! Here are six tips to improve your studying... and your grades along with it.
1. Make flashcards! This classic technic can be used with or without someone else. Just write questions on the fronts of flashcards, and answers on the back, and voila! You have flashcards.
2. Use a study guide. If provided with one, they can help a lot. Don't feel afraid to ask for one, too! Teachers love to help students out. Also, if completed with one, rereading study guides is great too. This can improve understanding of the topic, memorization, and more!
3. Feeling bored? Work with a friend! As long as you do not think it will be distracting, inviting a friend to study with you is a great idea. Both can benefit from it! This definitely can take away the stigma around studying.
4. Go over the raw old material. This could be worksheets, pieces of text, etc. Reviewing anything that you used to learn your topic is almost as good as going over a study guide, and sometimes better! The information is often more in-depth. In the end, using old material has basically the same affects.
5. Look at your notes. There is a reason that teachers make us take those. Reading, analyzing, and committing them to memory will make you more prepared for any test.
6. Make sure to focus in class. The majority of the time, being a devoted student will help you be more familiar with the needed information. You either will not need to study, or studying will not seem like such a humongous, daunting task.
These ideas are just some of the many ways to study. Also, they may not all work for you. You should find, and use, whatever you find most helpful. Studying is a wonderful resource overall, and should be utilized to its full potential.
