Sometimes, even if we are in a creative mood, artist's block can be very strong (and annoying)! Fortunately, there are many wonderful methods that cure this awful phenomenon. So, here are 10 effective ways to cure artist's block!
One well known- and successful- technique is to browse art ideas on Pinterest. You can experiment with different searches and filters to find the right type of inspiration. Make sure not to get to involved in scrolling, though!
Pick a character from something you love! You can put your own spin on them, or copy them entirely. This will help you feel passionate about what you are creating, and will get your creative juices flowing.
Do you already know what you would like to make, but are blank on how to execute it? Try making a rough draft! You can create an outline, or make a messy version.
Look around you! Something in your environment may give you a spark of an idea. Also, you could find one or more objects that you would like to create a still life of.
You could just pause! Sometimes, temporarily detaching from what you are working on, or trying to work on, really helps. You will loosen up, maybe rest, and have time to NOT THINK about your current project. Truly, ideas come much easier after you take a break.
Looking at old work can also help. Recreating and improving your previous art can be fun and rewarding. You will be able to see how far you have come! Also, you could simply look for something that gives you an idea.
Ask a friend or family member. If there are other people around, you could request for them to offer advice or a prompt. This option helps you have something to draw, and also can give you new ideas. You could possibly even learn a new technique! One important note: you really cannot be too picky about what propositions you accept. If you are finicky, your artist's block will just continue!
Make sure to not take anything you work on too seriously. You have to allow for imperfections and such, at least at the start.
You can listen to music! Music may offer you inspiration. It can set the right tone for you to work smoothly, as well.
Last of all, you could use a tutorial. There are many great art tutorial videos on youtube that offer step-by-step instructions to create drawings, paintings, and more!
