Hello! My name is Amy Fitzgerald.  I am currently employed with the Worth County School System in my hometown of Sylvester, Georgia.  I am the proud parents of two daughters, ages 16 and 18.  We are active in school events and activities; we love spending time with fellow Ram families in our small, rural town!  When time allows, we enjoy camping, hunting, boating, and fishing.  Baking, gardening, sewing, and reading are also favorite pastimes!

After graduating high school from Sherwood Christian Academy in 1997, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences majoring in Child and Family Development from The University of Georgia in 2003. Upon graduation, I began teaching Business Technology classes at Moultrie Technical College, now known as Southern Regional Technical College.  I began utilizing FACS knowledge to start The Flossy Fitzy, a business selling appliqued and embroidered items to customers worldwide.  I soon after began digitizing applique’ designs and launched Applique’ a Day, an online e-commerce store which markets applique’ designs for sale to other embroiderers.  I was honored when asked by the owner of OhMint.com to applique’ sample products for display in Atlanta and Dallas AmericasMart booths!  My knowledge of Textiles and Consumer Economics was heavily relied upon.

With both educational and industry experience in Family and Consumer Sciences, I began teaching the Food and Nutrition pathway at Worth County High School in Fall of 2018, along with the new Textiles pathway Fall of 2020.  In the Fall of 2021, I earned a Masters of Arts in Workforce Education with a focus on Family and Consumer Sciences from The University of Georgia. Go Dawgs!

Our growing FACS program at WCHS resulted in a new Textiles lab in Fall of 2022!  With this expansion, Mrs. Broome will be teaching the Foods pathway, while I will be teaching the Textiles pathway.  We are so excited for this new opportunity!  The first set of students completed their Textiles pathway in Spring 2023, with a 100% pass rate for the NOCTI Interior Design & Decorating End of Pathway Assessment!

Welcome to the WCHS FACS Interior Design, Fashion Design, & Textile Science program! I am looking forward to getting to know you!  Please contact me with any questions or concerns at afitzgerald@worthschools.net.
