Ursula Le Guin (1929-2018) was a prolfic writer in a wide range of genres and forms. I would highly recommend having an explore of her website, there is a huge amount of content there, and links to much more. She was influenced by Taoism and produced a translation of the Tao Te Ching from a variety of other translations and in consultation with experts despite not speaking Chinese. She often explored different ways societies could operate through her books and I love the speech she gave in acceptance of the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters which partically explores the role of fantasy in change and includes one of my favourite quotes:
"We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Very often in our art, the art of words."
She was a hugely reflective and analytical writer, questioning and analysing her perspectives and limitations and those of others and thinking deeply about how and why she did what she did.
