Noel Streatfeild (1895 - 1986) initially worked in the theatre before writing books for adults and only late moving on to books for children. This website includes quite a lot of biographical details, I was particularly interested in the trajectory it suggests of reluctance towards writing for children to a greater enthusiasm later in life.
