Much has been written about Alan Garner (1934 - Present) so I will signpost to some things I found particularly interesting.
This article has some really interesting bits about what made him become a writer and the tension he felt between his working class roots and going to Oxford.
This one has bits on his childhood and him as a reader, I was particularly interested by his answer that out of 11,000 books in his house only about 100 are novels because he doesn't really read fiction.
This one is a good long read with lots of detail, particularly about his mental health but ranging over lots of his life. His eccentricity really shines through.
