Oregon Trail

Students have been learning about the Westward Movement in CORE classes and in Room #217. In CORE classes, students are learning songs and dances as well as facts about life on the Oregon Trail.

In Room #217 we have watched videos of prairie grass in the wind, prairie animals, seen photos of the Rocky and Cascade mountains, old forts and landmarks along the trail. These visual images help students imagine what life was like during this time. These images also help students write about an imaginary journey in a journal that describes 4 parts of the trip. Students created Haiku poetry about the prairie: each student typed their poem and attached it to a individual paintings of the prairie.
