Who is eligible for Abortion Pill?
You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:
Are least 15 years old
Have a mailing address in California or Hawaii (residency not required)
Are up to 10 weeks pregnant (measured from the first day of your last period)
Medically eligible
You can provide a form of ID that has your name, photo, and date of birth.

NOT eligible for the Abortion Pill
Not eligible if one of the following applies:
Have a pregnancy that is more than 11 weeks (measured from the first day of your period)
Are using an IUD (intrauterine device)
Have been told by your healthcare provider that you have a pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic pregnancy)
Have problems with your adrenal glands (chronic adrenal failure)
Take blood thinners
Have a bleeding disorder
Have porphyria
Take certain steroid medications
Are allergic to mifepristone or misoprostol or medicines that contain misoprostol such as Cytotec or Arthrotec.
Are medication abortions safe?
Medication abortion ("abortion pill") is one of the SAFEST medical procedures.
Complications occur in less than 0.4% of patients.
Side effects such as fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea are common for up to 24 hours after taking the second medication (Misoprostol).
Complications are rare and most are not serious.
The most common complication is a continued pregnancy. If the pregnancy continues after taking the abortion pill, you may be able to take more medicine or you will need to have an abortion procedure.
Serious risks, such as heavy bleeding and infection, are very rare.
How does the abortion pill work?
The first medicine you take is mifepristone, which blocks the pregnancy hormone (progesterone) and stops the pregnancy from growing.
24-48 hours later you take a second medicine, called misoprostol which causes cramping and bleeding to empty the uterus.
You can expect bleeding like a heavy period.
Taken together, these two pills work up to 98 out of 100 times to end an early pregnancy.
After you take mifepristone (the first medication), you must complete the abortion. If treatment with medication does not work the first time, you may have the option to repeat the medicines or you will need an in-clinic procedural abortion.
How does virtual abortion care work?

Submit a photo ID and a clear selfie for purposes of identification
Pay $297 fee
Within 8-12 hours, a Choices Rising provider will review your medical history and if medically cleared, they will prescribe your medications.
In rare instances, clarifying questions might need to be addressed. In that case the provider will reach you via your preferred communication method to confirm information; keep in mind that this might delay the process.
Your prompt response to calls/emails or texts is greatly appreciate it.
If no additional steps are required, and after the prescription is received by the mail order pharmacy, the medication will be mailed and should arrive within 3-5 business days.
The medication will be delivered to your door, a PO Box or post office in a discrete packaging to protect your privacy.

There is a non-refundable $20 consultation fee that must be collected prior to submitting the intake form. If you are eligible for care, we will apply the $20 towards the total cost of $297.
