Seventh Grade

Eighth grade is a very fun year. Students are beginning to get ready for the high school. Students start to work more independently and we work more from the text book. Students follow a beginning-of-class routine so they always know what is expected of them when they first come in the room. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday students read a book of their choice for the first 10 minutes of class. On Tuesday and Thursday students creative write in an online journal.

During our year together, eighth grade students will learn about themes, motifs, and symbols in literature, participate in socratic seminars, and work on the three text types: narrative, expository, and argument. All students are part of our class Google Classroom page. This is where they will turn in writing assignments, as well as work on their journal during creative writing time.
