Welcome to 7th Grade Mathematics!

"In mathematics the art of proposing a question must be held of higher value than solving it." -Georg Cantor

Meet the Teacher

My name is Cory Valentine, and this is my second year teaching at Bellows Falls Middle School. I began my career in a small Northeast Kingdom school where I taught two years of 5th - 8th grade mathematics. Prior to joining BFMS, I taught for three years within the Northern State Correctional Facility with Community High School of Vermont.

Although I enjoyed my time in northern Vermont, I am happy to be in this part of the state, for I grew up not far from here in Lebanon, NH. I attended Keene State College where I majored in Mathematics Education and minored in Statistics; I graduated in 2014. Most recently, August 2019, I completed a Master's degree (MAT) in Teacher Leadership from Upper Valley Graduate School of Education in Lebanon, NH. My year-long action research explored the impact of Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills and Professional Goals within a Professional Learning Community.

It is very exciting for me to be part the BFMS community. I am passionate about middle school curriculum, youth development, social & emotional learning, and supporting students in developing a curiosity and appreciation for mathematics. It is not uncommon to see me at sports and extra-curricular activities; please do not hestitate to say hello!

The African proverb, "It takes a village," has always been a fundamental precept of mine. I am honored to be part of your student's educational journey. I can be reached at cory.valentine@wnesu.com.
