Junior Team Tennis
What is Junior team tennis?
The goal of Junior Team Tennis is to provide match play for junior players. It's a great way for players to have fun with their friends (teams are co-ed) in a team setting. For the summer session, teams will typically play 4-8 matches on weeknights. Players will have the opportunity to play singles and doubles at each match. Players do not have to be present for each match if there are conflicts in their schedule. The dates of the fall session varies depending on your area and program.
It's a great opportunity for high school or middle school players to get match play during the off season, and a great experience for younger players to hone their skills outside of lessons or tournaments. Each team has a captain who is typically a parent and they set the line up and help matches get on court in a timely manner. The parent does not have to have any coaching experience or know much about tennis - kind of like an AYSO or T-ball coach. The goal really is for the players to have fun and get on the court.
The following short video from the USTA is a great introduction to Junior Team Tennis!
