Psychology 1

In this unit, students will explore the major psychological perspectives, including psychodynamic, behavioral, humanistic, cognitive, biological, sociocultural, and evolutionary approaches. Students will also examine common research methods used by psychologists, including naturalistic observation, case studies, interviews, surveys, psychological testing, and controlled experiments, while learning how psychological research is designed and conducted.

In this unit, students will examine how the nervous system works, with an emphasis on the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Students will explore the structure of neurons, the role of neurotransmitters, and the process of neural transmission, while also learning how major brain structures support different functions and behaviors.

In this unit, students will examine how organisms acquire behaviors through the study of classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and social learning.
