Concert Choir

In this unit, students will learn and practice concert choir rehearsal routines, establishing a foundation for successful music-making throughout the year. Students will develop foundational musical skills, including solfège, steady beat, staff notation, note and rest values, time signatures, notes in the treble clef, and rhythmic figures using whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes.

In this unit, students will advance their vocal performance skills through daily rehearsal and preparation of concert choir repertoire. Students will develop greater awareness and control of their voices and apply healthy vocal techniques in rehearsals and performances. Students will also apply their understanding of written musical notation more consistently. Students will share their achievements and learning in a Winter Concert performance.

In this unit, students will continue developing their vocal technique and may participate in auditions, performances, and festivals. Students will learn and understand more intermediate to advanced musical concepts (notes in the bass clef, key signatures, dotted rhythms) and work to apply their understanding to their learning and performance of choral repertoire.

In this unit, students will strengthen the consistency of their vocal technique and application of musical skills. Students will prepare a variety of choral repertoire and apply their performance techniques in Spring performances.
