In data, students will collect, organize, and compare information using tally charts, tables, picture graphs, and bar graphs. Through hands-on activities and real-world tasks, students will solve problems, explain their reasoning, and use data to answer questions.
In this unit, students will build fluency with two-digit addition and subtraction while applying their skills to word problems, time, and money. Students will break apart two-digit numbers into tens and ones, regroup when needed, estimate sums and differences, and use addition to check subtraction. Students will also solve word problems with two-digit numbers, recognize and count coins and bills, and tell and write time to the nearest five minutes using analog and digital clocks. Through real-world math tasks, students will strengthen problem-solving strategies, build number sense, and apply math to everyday situations involving money and time.
In this unit, students will build an understanding of three-digit numbers through place value, comparison, addition, and subtraction. Students will identify hundreds, tens, and ones, read and write three-digit numbers, and represent numbers in different ways using models and expanded form. Students will also compare three-digit numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to symbols. Through mental math, place-value strategies, and regrouping, students will add and subtract three-digit numbers and use addition to check subtraction. Students will also add several two-digit numbers and apply strategies to solve real-world problems using models, equations, and mathematical reasoning.
In this unit, students will build measurement skills by measuring, estimating, comparing, adding, and subtracting lengths. Students will measure objects using inches, centimeters, feet, meters, rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes. Students will compare measurements made with different units and use benchmark objects to estimate length. Students will also solve addition and subtraction problems involving lengths, use number lines to represent and solve problems, and create and interpret line plots using measurement data. Through hands-on activities and real-world tasks, students will strengthen measurement language, organize data, and explain their mathematical thinking.
In this unit, students will explore shapes, equal parts, arrays, and even and odd numbers. Students will identify and draw shapes such as triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes based on their attributes. Students will also partition shapes into halves, thirds, and fourths and understand that equal parts must be the same size. Students will tile rectangles with squares, describe arrays using rows and columns, and use repeated addition and skip-counting to find totals. Through hands-on activities and real-world tasks, students will identify even and odd numbers, show even numbers as two equal groups, and show odd numbers as two equal groups with one left over.
