Digital Illustration and Design

In this unit, students will learn the basics of Procreate, including how to manipulate images, create 2D images, and explore illustration styles. Students will practice the elements of art and how these skills affect the success of digital illustration and design projects throughout the semester. 

In this unit, students will learn the concept of composition in digital media. Students will learn the Principles of Design to further support the four steps of art criticism: describe, analyze, interpret, and judge. 

In this unit, students will learn the properties of a still life drawing. This will include viewing traditional and contemporary styles of still lifes. Students will experience traditional and digital methods for illustrating still lifes.

In this unit, students will learn about the history of tattooing and the culture of tattoos throughout our world. This will include learning about methods of drawing tattoos both in a traditional and contemporary way. 

In this unit, students will learn about the history and tradition of character building and storyboarding. This will include learning about shape language. Students will apply these skills in illustrating their own short story.    

In this unit, students will learn about ways to customize features in Procreate, such as creating design tiles and brush textures. Students will learn ways to use their custom brushes to create different illustrations.
