Marvel Does it Once Again!

In early September, Marvel Studios released yet another showstopping film. While showing the audience a full display of what life is like in the San Francisco Bay area and representing the Chinese culture that is strongly connected to Shaun, or better known as Shang-Chi, anyone is able to enjoy this film. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” debuted with a great opening week showing with ratings of 92% rotten tomatoes and earning more than $94 million in the United States over its first opening weekend.

Throughout the movie, there is nothing in this Marvel film that will bore you. However, unlike other films, the close insight and detail of how Chinese culture influences the characters brings out an elegant balance between their pride and culture. Whether it’s laughing about the performance of Ben Kingsley playing Trevor Slaterry (who showed in previous Marvel films) or feeling empathetic with Chiu Wai played by Toy Leung, you will definitely have a laugh with multiple remarks that well known actress Awkwafina, who plays Katy (Shang-Chi's friend) brings to set. Overall, the whole mood and scene of the movie makes any Chinese feel at home and proud of their culture while also knowing that many others will enjoy the beauty of this culture as well.
