Entergalactic

Entergalactic is an animated romantic comedy created and starring Scott Mescudi, more widely known as American rapper Kid Cudi. While this doesn’t make his first appearance in the world of movies, as he starred in the horror movie X earlier this year, this the first movie he’s directly created. The movie is dedicated to Virgil Abloh, a fashion designer and founder of Off-White who contributed the fashion of the characters in the movie before his passing last year.

The movie is about Jabari (Kid Cudi), an artist moving to Manhattan to start his new job, and his turbulent journey through love. The film's art style is truly beautiful. It’s reminiscent of Into The Spider-Verse and that’s a good thing. Everything is so colorful and vibrant, it’s more like a painting than an animated film.

The voice actors do an incredible job as well. The main cast consists of Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla Sign, Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Vanessa Hudgens, and Laura Harrier. The film’s score is also done by Cudi with his new album of the same name Entergalactic. The music almost makes the movie itself, every scene that uses the album uses it perfectly, almost like a music video. It makes the emotions and vibes of the scenes more lively and passionate.

One criticism I do have is that I think the film was a bit slow in some sequences, but it is a drama so that was almost expected. Also, this film is NOT for the younger ones. But if you are mature enough to watch it, I think you’ll have a good time!
