Harry Styles "Love on Tour"

With packed arenas, safety is a big concern. That is, considering what the world has gone through with COVID-19 for the past, almost two years. Venues across the nation each have different health protocols to keep the health of attendees a priority. As for the Golden 1 Center, it is required that all guests, two and up wear face coverings when not eating or drinking. As upon entry, proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours prior is required. From personal experience, enforcement was not very strict. There was not very thorough checking of vaccination cards or negative tests.

However, after two years of anticipating the second concert arrival of former One Direction member, Harry Styles, many of his fans were eager to finally see him in concert at Golden 1 Center. Whether it was their first or second time seeing Styles in Sacramento, it was mostly definitely a promising show for everyone.

Even before doors opened to enter the arena, there were lines left and right extending endlessly. Some were so long that they were wrapped around a whole street. However, once the doors started to open at around 6 o’clock, surprisingly there wasn’t a huge stampede. Entering the arena concert goers were greeted with a merchandise table and multiple employees offering facemasks and reminding those to have them on. Waiting for the concert to begin, many fans either waited eagerly in their seats, waited in line to buy merchandise, or just chilled outside in the food courts.

Walking around for the first hour there, it was amazing to see how many fans came to the show in stunning costumes and outfits. Whether it was wearing a boa, pearl necklace, or a banana costume (from one Styles past concerts when being in One Direction) it was reassuring to see how supporting and inspiring his fanbase is.

Opening for Mr.Styles was Jenny Lewis, an American singer/songwriter and actress who delivered a spectacular performance. One that definitely matched the mood that Harry Styles was going to present.

As the lights had dimmed down, the animation of his concert's theme appeared with the accompaniment of the poem “Style” written by Charles Bukowski, the whole stadium was filled with screaming. Once Harry Styles came out in one of his different outfits for the concert, the stadium immediately filled with thunderous music and yelling as his opening song, “Golden” was being played.

Throughout the whole hour and thirty minute concert, a whole tumble of emotions passed by through various people, including myself. Whether it was screaming at the top of our lungs to “Kiwi” or crying to “Fine Line”, it’s safe to assume that the concert was a touching experience.
