The varsity boys volleyball team will once again compete for the Suffolk County Championship today, November 13 at 5:00pm vs Eastport South Manor at Eastport South Manor HS. Everyone over the age of 12 will need to purchase a $10 ticket in advance on the GoFan APP or website. Come out and support the Lion’s in their quest for their first Suffolk County championship in West Islip history. BEAT Eastport South Manor! Please note time change. The boys Volleyball county championship game has been moved to a 5:00pm start. Section XI changed the start time of our match to accommodate the Connetquot district since both their boys and girls VB teams were scheduled to play a championship game on the same day at the same time at different locations.
All sophomore students are encouraged to apply for the HOBY LEADERSHIP SEMINAR. HOBY is a leadership seminar in which one student from the West Islip High School will be invited to a weekend seminar and learn about leadership, business, community, education and technology.
Students are asked to write an essay of approximately 150 words and the questions is: If I had the power to positively influence the West Islip High School what would I do and why?
Essay will be due on 11/18/25. Please hand your essay in to your School Counselor by November 18th.

The library is excited to host its first ever “Thankful to Be Locked in the Library” event on Friday, November 21 from 7-10 pm! Students are invited to register for an evening full of fun with friends. There will be video game battles, a trivia competition, Uno, jewelry making and more. Oh and did we mention Pizza for dinner? The varsity girls soccer team will once again compete for a New York State Championship this weekend in Cortland NY. The Lions will play Albertus Magnus High School in the NYS semi-final game on Saturday, November 15 at 12noon at Dryden HS. When they win, they’ll play for the 2025 NYS championship on Sunday, November 16 at 12:30pm vs the winner of Churchville/ Warwick. Go LIONS! Beat Albertus Magnus and bring home a NYS title!!!

Spectrum Magazine, our school's literary and art magazine club, will be distributing the 2025 edition "Fire and Frost." Please come by the school store right after school on Friday, Nov 21 for a free copy of the magazine and a slice of pizza for $3/ slice. Spectrum will be there until 3:00.

There will be a brief meeting for all Girls interested in playing Varsity Bowling on today, November 12 in Room 106.
Anyone interested in coming out for the Winter Varsity Swimming and Diving season should attend a brief meeting on today, November 12 at 2:20 PM in Room 208. Congratulations to the West Islip Girls Varsity Gymnastics Team!
This past Monday, our Lions placed 3rd overall in the Suffolk County Team Championships! The team wrapped up a wonderful season filled with hard work, determination, and team spirit. The girls broke their team record on Monday scoring a 167.925. We’re so proud of everything they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see what next season brings!
A special shoutout to the Emily Ball, Emily Gavers, Juliet LeClaire, Ava Bomberger and Lena Okurkowski, five of the seven members of WIVG who will be competing this Friday at Babylon High School in the Individual County Championships, where they’ll have the chance to qualify for the New York State High School Team. Good luck, girls—your West Islip family is cheering you on!
