NYSSMA Solo - Purchase Information
As per NYSSMA guidelines and copyright regulations, an original copy of the NYSSMA solo must be purchased and used at the NYSSMA festival.
Most solos come with a piano accompaniment…
If the solo comes with a piano accompaniment, you DO NOT NEED to purchase two.
If the solo does not come with a piano accompaniment —
YOU MUST PURCHASE TWO COPIES!
DOUBLE CHECK--YOU MAY NEED TO PURCHASE TWO COPIES!
In accordance with copyright laws, the piano accompaniment (or second copy) will be used by the NYSSMA judge to follow the music as your child performs.
Music may be purchased (or ordered) from any local music store or online websites.
Know before you go -- call ahead to reserve/order your solo!
While at the music store or on-line, have the following information handy:
1. Instrument
2. Title of the piece
3. NYSSMA Level
4. Composer
5. Publisher of the NYSSMA approved edition
Remember the following when ordering music:
Order your NYSSMA music as soon as the solo has been chosen. If your band student is not working with a private teacher, Mrs. Peskanov will help choose the solo.
DO NOT wait until the last minute to purchase the NYSSMA solo! This process may take longer than you expect.
