Tom Sherrington's take on things to consider:
Be realistic.
Keep communication simple and routine.
Sustain a manageable student workload.
Balance on-line and off-line tasks.
Balance a core of structured, directed tasks with just a few open-ended tasks.
Use some repeatable task structures.
Include some form of never-ending long-term personal project.
The longer it goes on, the more important some personal teacher-to-student contact is.
Keep the need and expectations around teacher feedback to a minimum.
Monitor and respond on any help forums and email accounts within an agreed timescale.
Include plenty of optional suggestions that go beyond the normal.
Use existing resources wherever you can.
