Week Beginning 03.02.25
Hello, everyone!
What a week it’s been! It’s been all go at Bexhill, with the children working incredibly hard and getting stuck into some fantastic learning. Our Year 5s have been out and about on their bikes, taking part in Bikeability and mastering those all-important road safety skills—well done to them! We’ve also had a very exciting delivery… lots of new books for our library! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this happen—we can’t wait to see the children diving into new stories. Most importantly, we’ve spent time learning how to look after our mental health, exploring ways to stay happy, calm, and resilient. A busy but brilliant week all around!

New Starters
Is your child due to start nursery this year? If so, this is a fab opportunity to help them prepare. The sessions run at Bunny Hill and are organised by Together for Children.
Punctuality
Please try and be on time for school
Late arrivals have a considerable impact on everyone. Firstly, it means that your child misses out on important learning time and the crucial introductions to the day's lessons. Secondly, it disrupts the other children who have arrived on time and are ready to learn. It also puts extra pressure on our staff who have to catch up late students and ensure they are ready to join the class.
We have also noticed that it is often the same families whose children are persistently arriving late. We kindly ask that all parents make a conscious effort to ensure their children arrive at school on time. Please be aware that while the official gates closing time is the 8:50am, I deliberately keep the gates open for a few minutes to allow for those unexpected delays, at which point the gates are then locked by 8.55am. However, we do understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances can cause delays.
We appreciate your support in this matter. By working together, we can ensure a smooth and productive start to the school day for all our children. Please help us to give your children the best possible start to their learning journey.
Valentine's Disco
On Wednesday 12th February we will be having our Valentine's disco. This is free of charge, children will receive a snack and drink and there will be lots of games and prizes.
EYFS (Nursery and Reception) will be hosting theirs throughout the day and will release more details on their class Dojo pages.
Years 1, 2 and 3 - 3:45 - 4:45, children can be collected at 3:00 (from their usual doors) if they are attending the disco so they can get party ready.
Years 4, 5 and 6 - 4:50 - 5:50, children to enter through the small gate next to the KS2 entrance to avoid a busy car park!
All children must be collected by an adult at the end of their disco.
School Library Update
So many kind parents and friends have asked how they can help further with our library plans, and we truly appreciate it. To make donating easier, our school council has put together an Amazon wish list filled with books we would love to add to our library. If you’d like to contribute, simply click the link below, choose a book, and it will be sent straight to our school, ready to be enjoyed!
Every book makes a difference, and your generosity means the world to us. Please share this post with friends and family—the more support we receive, the more stories we can share with our children. Thank you for being a part of this special journey!

E-Safety Update
While misinformation and ‘fake news’ are well-known concerns online, it's also the case that scammers and other cyber-criminals can try to utilise this phony material to manipulate, frighten or otherwise persuade their victims into cooperating.
With constantly evolving scams and such a high volume of misinformation online, it's vital that parents and educators know how to safeguard the children in their care against these kinds of tactics. Our guide breaks down the most prominent ways in which scammers attempt to use ‘fake news’ to their advantage, as well as how to protect youngsters from being manipulated by such techniques.
Uniform
As it is the start of the new term, we are being extra vigilant with school uniforms. Please ensure their children are in the correct school uniform of:
Purple jumper/cardigan,
white shirt,
Plain black trousers or skirt
Plain black shoes or trainers.
PE Kit
Purple School PE top or plain white polo shirt
Black school shorts or plain unbranded shorts
Black jogging bottoms or leggings (school or unbranded)
Black school hooded top or school jumper

Citizenship Assembly
The friendship of a goldfish and a mouse is in jeopardy when three not-so-friendly felines want to play too. This gorgeously illustrated picture book reminds us of the importance of bravery and friendship.
A goldfish and a mouse become fast friends as they play in and around the goldfish's bowl.
But when three cats crash the party and terrify the poor goldfish, the brave little mouse gets an idea. She leads the three black cats on a wild and epic chase up and down and over and around until they find themselves surrounded by absolutely irresistible food in the pantry. The cats gorge themselves so much that they fall into a deep sleep, but the mouse knows they won't sleep forever. So the brave little mouse gets another idea to keep the goldfish out of harm's way for good!
This is a heartwarming story with a simple text and gorgeous illustrations about the lengths one brave mouse will go to in order to save her friend.
Attendance
This week's whole school attendance is 94%. The National level is 96%.
You will receive a text every week with your child's attendance on. That is for the year to date. If you click on the pie chart in the scholar-pack app you can see it week by week.
School Council Update
We are thrilled to share some exciting updates from the School Council! Recently, we had a fantastic trip to Seven Stories, where we discovered some amazing books that we just couldn’t resist adding to our library.
A huge thank you to everyone who has generously donated books and resources; your contributions have been truly lovely!
We’ve started to plan our library layout and are currently scoping out some furniture options. Our goal is to create a welcoming space that everyone can enjoy. We can’t wait to see our vision come to life! Happy reading!
