Course Objectives:

This course aims to develop;

· The vocabulary and language of art

· The elements of art and principles of design

· Art criticism and theories of art

· Aesthetics

· Use of media, methods and techniques to create art

· Historical examples of art

COURSE REQUIREMENTS :

· Art portfolio(folder) -- You will keep a portfolio containing all artwork and notes taken on, lectures, films and demonstrations.

· Participation/Life Skills* -- Be present for class, take part in assigned lesson, make efficient use of time during class work sessions.

· Competence -- You should demonstrate competence by completing all artwork to the best of your abilities using art techniques learned.

· Responsibility -- Be responsible for tools, supplies and the studio work area.

· Instruction and independent work is done in a 40 minute class period thus students participate from bell to bell .

Late work/Make-up Work: GRADING PROCEDURE:

  • Make up work due to absence; 30% Major Assessment
  • UNEXCUSED: 3 days after absence, grade no higher than a "70" (*6wks exam *semester exam)
  • EXCUSED:3 days after absence, regular grading 70% Minor Assessement

2. Be respectful and cooperative.

3. Do not damage art tools.

4. No Electronic devices allowed in class.

  • HOMEWORK: Students will have homework at taecher discrection : when assignments are not completed in class due to absence, school activity or wasted time in class
