Joel Ramos

Hello everyone, my name is Joel Ramos and I am a senior in Mrs. Ramos’ Independent Studies class for the 2019-2020 school year. I was born in Austin, Texas and lived there for four years with all my immediate family and moved down to the Rio Grande Valley to begin school.

In my high school years, I have involved myself in school as well as being active in my church. I am currently the vice-president of Health Occupations Students of America, treasurer for Business Professionals of America and National Honor Society, and the team captain of the UIL Accounting team. In my church, I am an assistant secretary, assistant accountant, and team for retreats.

During this past summer, I had the honor to represent Weslaco East at McCombs Future Executive Academy and Boys State at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as going on a pilgrimage in Europe through my church. Due to these experiences, I feel motivated to travel and study abroad to see more of the world. I hope to study Accounting at the University of Texas at Austin in the fall of 2020 and pursue my dream of becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

Thank you for following up on our class and I hope you continue to view our work because this class has given us the chance to be more proactive about the changes and differences we want to see in school.

Thank you and Hook em’!
