Emily Beltran

My name is Emily A. Beltran, a senior from Weslaco East High School who’ll be graduating in May 2020. I am in Mrs. Ramos’ Independent Studies class where we create projects on various topics such as Youth Activism, School issues, etc. to help voice activity in the world that is ongoing.

I live in Weslaco, Texas with my parents, siblings and my two dogs and have enjoyed life in the Rio Grande Valley. My time at Weslaco East High School has consisted of dedicating time to my schoolwork and participation in organizations like Health Occupations Students of America, UIL competition, and JROTC. I’ve been in both JROTC and UIL for four years where I’ve learned to be motivated, dedicated, and push myself to get where I want to be. HOSA has given me the ability to be doing volunteer work where we’ve attended nursing homes and helped with organizing the blood drive.

I wish to attend University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for Fall 2020 to pursue a major in social work. In the future, I hope to one day start a charity or nonprofit organization somehow to help people.

All of our projects are filled with time, dedication and lots of research to help others be educated on certain topics we feel that should be heard. We thank everyone who will be reviewing and learning about the work we’ve done.
