All CBE registration materials must be received by the district no later than:

Credit by Examination allows students to earn course credit or advance a grade level by passing an approved exam, without completing the traditional course.
Available for Grades 1–12
Tests are aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
Administered through Region 3 Education Service Center in partnership with The University of Texas
No cost to students (per Texas Administrative Code)
CBE may be a good option for students who:
Have already mastered course content
Are transferring from private, homeschool, or out-of-state schools
Want to accelerate academically
Need to recover or earn credit outside the regular school year

⏱️ Students have up to 3 hours per exam and may take up to two exams per day.
Complete the CBE Registration Form (located at top of web page)
All fields must be accurate
Student name must match PEIMS/TSDS records
Complete the Student Profile Form
Attach a recent student photo
Obtain Parent/Guardian Signature
Submit forms to the district by the deadline
*District submits all materials to Region 3 ESC
⚠️ Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted.
80% or higher → Credit awarded (no prior instruction)
70% or higher → Credit may be awarded (with prior instruction)
Scores are sent directly to the district
Results are not released to families by Region 3 ESC

Is there a cost to take the exam?
No. Credit by Examination is free to students per state law.
How many times can a student attempt a test?
Students may attempt a specific exam up to two times.
Who receives the test results?
Results are sent to the district and campus listed on the registration form.
