HRSA Funding Opportunity
In September, HRSA released a NOFO with a funding opportunity for Preventive Medicine Residencies to increase the supply and diversity of the preventive medicine physicians and enhance the quality of the preventive medicine residencies through residents having one of their rotations be a longitudinal rotations in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in rural and/or medically underserved communities.
Our application outlined out plan to build on existing strengths of the UW PMR Program and Wingra FQHC. The project will focus on quality improvement and implementing a new core rotation at the Wingra FQHC for our senior residents. Residents will conduct data analyses to identify health disparities relevant to the quality metrics of focus, conduct literature reviews to identify evidence-based interventions to reduce disparities, and support implementation efforts to reduce identified disparities. Finally, the Project will enhance existing efforts to recruit and retain diverse preventive medicine physicians in our community and state
Funded programs will be notified on or around May 1, 2023

Our 22-23 Cohort
Our 22-23 cohort is about half way through the year! They have been busy starting the MPH, wrapping up the MPH, and rotating with environmental and occupational health and DHS. If you have any upcoming projects that you think a resident might enjoy, let us know!
We also were able to fit in a morning of wellness before the weather cooled down. We met for coffee, enjoyed a walk through the Arboretum and appreciated the team building that resulted.
