Can I partner/Co-teach with another faculty for a preceptor small group?
Yes, we regularly pair facilitators so you can take turns teaching your assigned week each month.
Will there be an informational session or faculty materials before block begins?
Joe Orman (jorman@medicine.wisc.edu) will send out a reminder email with session information and student roster one week before the session.
There is not an information session, but you are able to meet with Dr. Sarah Ahrens, Medicine IAI Director, in order to discuss session content.
Where is the room I will be teaching in located?
Sessions occur in HSLC 1192, but you have the option to hold the session remotely via Zoom if needed.
How many students will I work with?
The number of students varies per month based on IAI registration, with the minimum number of students between 1-2 in the late Fall and 15-16 in the Spring and Summer. Typically, you can expect anywhere between 5-12 students.
I signed up but am no longer available or sick, who should I contact/how do I cancel?
Please contact Joe Orman (jorman@medicine.wisc.edu) as soon as possible. He will work with you and the department to find a substitute.
I might be a little late coming from clinic/meeting, who should I contact?
Please contact Joe Orman (jorman@medicine.wisc.edu) as soon as possible, and he will communicate with your students.
I am interested but do not know my schedule yet, what should I do?
You can email Joe Orman (jorman@medicine.wisc.edu) directly, and he will discuss teaching options with you.
I might need to leave early, is that ok, what arrangements need to occur?
Facilitators are expected to attend the entire hour of the session. If you think you may need to leave early, you should reach out to Joe Orman (jorman@medicine.wisc.edu) as far in advance as possible so that a substitute can be recruited.
No, no grading or assessments will occur.
Who should I contact with any further questions?
Please reach out to Joe Orman, Healthcare Education Coordinator for the Medicine IAI (jorman@medicine.wisc.edu) with any questions.
