In this project, we are developing a collection of games that explore how science is actually done. Specifically, we are looking to build 3 or more games that are inspiried by a specific research laboratory or research station. The game should explore the contexts for research, the specific kinds of experiements and data that are collected, the types of models that synthesize the findings, and the forms of communcation with the public.
We recruited broadly from around the UW Madison campus and found educators and librarians from across the state. In the end, four concepts were developed and to date, one project has been selected for a $250,000 production funding round.

Agenda
Find your way to the location and meet with your fellow invitees.
Stretch your design muscles with a free-form brainstorm and shareout.
Hear David Gagnon's proposal for an event to combine researcher outreach with educator professional development, through the medium of games.
Try out Field Day's existing game projects.
Try out game design methods by finding the verbs and win state of your discipline.
Hear about the current issues in Wisconsin education from DPI.
Define the "Boss Levels" of your practice: the big questions and challenges driving research.
See how Field Day developed a game from the professional practices of marine biology.
Consider what a Wake-style "research station" of your lab would look like.
Inspired by Wake, create three "Jobs" that players could take in your research station.
Using all of the design sessions, develop and pitch a concept for a new "station" in Wake.
