Frequently Asked Questions - CoT
Clinical Skills are pre-clinical teaching sessions for first and second year (M1 & M2) medical students. In the Fall semester, we have Clinical Skills Co-Teachers to accommodate teaching sessions for both classes. In the Spring semester, M2s move on to their Phase 2 clinical rotations.
Co-Teachers are paired with an LTC (Longitudinal Teacher Coach) and their group of students. The Co-Teacher works with half of the group for the session in our simulated clinical environment (CTAC) with a standardized patient. The session will center around a topic such as relationship building or lower extremity exam. A session guide is sent in advance and there is nothing co-teacher need to develop in advance of the session.
We hold two sessions for Clinical Skills on Mondays and Thursdays on select dates.
The AM session runs from 10a-12pm
The PM session runs from 1-3pm
We do not have co-teachers every week.

The sessions are in person at the Health Sciences Learning Center (750 Highland Avenue) on the 3rd floor in our Clinical Teaching and Assessment Center (CTAC). This is a simulated clinical setting.
You will be paired with the same student group and LTC if possible
Please reach out to Amanda Rosalez at Rosalez@wisc.edu and she can provide further guidance or assistance if possible.
Preparation for these sessions is variable based on comfort level, but on average will take about an hour or less. A session guide is sent out by Amanda on Wednesday for the coming week along with any other relevant information.
There is also a overall Clinical Skills guide that you may find useful if you need a refresher on a topic. That is linked here.
Clinical Skills Co-teaching is compensated through MAMA. This role does not come with an FTE through the Medical Education Office
