Have you ever had a great website that you wish had an app - or at least an easy way to access it? There's an easy way to take any website and make it a one-touch link on the front page of your iOS device (iPad, iPhone). Here's how:
Open Safari (don't use other browsers for this purpose), and go to the website. For our example, I'm using the Bright Futures website which has its parent handouts in English and Spanish available for free.
Click on the box with an arrow coming out of the top. This means we are sending something somewhere. in this case, we will send the link to our home screen.
Scroll slightly to the right at the bottom of the small box that has popped up and click "Add to home screen"
Rename the link as needed so it is clear where the new icon/link on the home screen will take you. In this example, I change it from "Resources for Families" to "AAP Bright Futures"
The link now shows up on the home screen with whatever small picture the website has attached to it. Some websites do not have this and it will be a simple white box, which is why naming in Step 5 is important.
That's it! You can move it around as you wish and even put it in folders. I find this helpful for many sites, including my hospital's paging system, bilitool.org, etc.
