How can I use this in my teaching?
The STD Treatment Guide app is a reference tool to identify and treat sexually transmitted Diseases (STDs) and sexual assault.
It provides full access to STD treatment guidelines and detailed information on 21 STDs.
It also contains a guide on taking a sexual history.
This can provide a platform to discuss the identification and management of STDs as well as taking a sexual history in adolescents.
Use the STD treatment guidelines to review with your learners specific medications used to treat common acquired or congenital pathogens.
Use the Guide to Taking a Sexual History to discuss appropriate approaches to information gathering in a small group setting or to develop/implement a simulated patient encounter to practice this skill.
How do I use it?
Install the app on your phone:
Go to your phone’s app store [App Store for iPhone, Google Play for Android] and search for and download the app. Look for a blue icon with the CDC logo.
Not an iOs user? You can also create a ”favorite” in your mobile web browser directing you to the webpage for the CDC’s STD treatment guidelines.
Reviewing a specific STD:
From the “Conditions” tab you can select a specific STD of interest.
On the next screen, select the appropriate age group.
The following screen displays recommended and alternative treatment regimens.
